3. Welding position. The first performance characteristic to consider. High cellulose coatings, like those on E6010 and E6011 electrodes, generate a light slag that makes for rapid solidifying of the weld metal good for-out-of-position welds. Also good are rutile-fluxed electrodes-E6012 and E6013--that hold out-of-position weld metal in place as it solidifies.4. Welding current. Covered electrodes run on AC, DC, or both. When welding DC, the positive lead typically connects to the electrode (DCEP, or reverse polarity). Some suppliers design electrodes that weld with the electrode negative (DCEN, or straight polarity). Assure the electrode will perform with the available current. CAUTION: Cover up the drive belts and pulleys using a clean shop cloth before sanding or filing to prevent metal filings from falling onto them.If no pressure marks or traces of rubbing are found on the hose as described, check the gap at the closest point (A) between the cast boss of the oil filter housing and the upper coolant hose. There must be a gap (A) of at least 1/4 inch (7 mm) when the engine coolant is cold.If gap (A) is 1/4 inch (7 mm) or greater, no further repairs are necessary. If gap (A) is less than 1/4 inch (7 mm), the upper coolant hose must be replaced with the new modified version.Parts InformationUpper Coolant Hose BMW Part Number 11 531 433 340We replaced the upper radiator hose with the new type, cleaned the engine compartment, filled the cooling system and pressure tested it to make sure there were no other leaks. Luckily, the engine hadn''t overheated. Most of the steam was created from the coolant leaking on the exhaust manifold. The owner was fairly good-natured about his near catastrophe. Relieved, standing at the counter while paying his bill, he said lightheartedly, "You know, my pants and shirt were badly wrinkled when I left the house this morning. I think this was the strangest way I''ve ever had my clothes pressed." I had to agree. ills Most light-duty cab/chassis have standard cab-to-axle (CA) dimensions: 60, 84, 108 and 120 inches. The CA is the distance from the back of cab to the center of the rear axle. Typically the 60-inch measure is used for a 10-foot body, 84-inch for a 12-foot body, 108-inch for a 14- or 15-foot body, and 120-inch for a 15- or 16-foot body. You can use a four-door, 4x4 cab/chassis up to the 84-inch CA, but beyond that you may run into an overload situation. Be very cautious with the larger 14- to 16-foot bodies, even with a two-door unit. Bodies are fabricated many different ways: formed or extruded construction; steel, stainless steel or aluminum; and varying thicknesses. All these things will have an effect on the weight of your body. Aluminum weighs approximately 40% less than steel or stainless steel, allowing for more equipment storage or personnel in the long run. ©2003 www.circular-saws.net All rights reserved. |
